The Practice

Every therapy has a shape. We carve to it before we carve to look at.

A droni is boat-hulled because oil has to run somewhere. A dhara stand holds its pot at a fixed height because the stream can't waver. We build backward from the treatment — Abhyanga, Swedana, Shirodhara, Udvartana — and let the form follow.

Vedadhara Sharira Peetha

Solid rosewood · hand-carved · oil-drainage channel

Sharira (body) and peetha (seat) — the contoured cradle that sits at the head of the Maha Droni. Its scalloped, lyre-shaped rim is carved to the curve of the shoulders and skull, with a raised channel that carries spent oil away from the body instead of pooling beneath it.

Vedadhara Swedana Kutir

Brushed stainless steel · steam-sealed lid · teak plinth

Swedana (therapeutic steam) and kutir (small chamber) — a sealed body enclosure for bashpa swedana. The patient sits inside while herbal steam is piped in from an external generator; the head passes through the sloped lid and stays outside the chamber, so heat reaches the tissue without ever reaching the airway.

Vedadhara Vaidya Asana

Turned hardwood seat · brushed aluminium column

Vaidya (physician) and asana (seat) — the healer's own seat. Panchakarma strokes are long and repetitive, and the practitioner's position matters as much as the patient's; this stool is turned low and stable, on a five-point base that won't tip when a therapist leans into a stroke.

Bindu (a drop) and nala (a channel) — the fitting at the base of the dhara pot that narrows its outlet, turning a pour into the single, unbroken thread of oil that classical shirodhara calls for.

Valaya — a ring. Set beneath the pot, this band steadies the stream in its last few inches of fall, keeping it centred on the sthapani point instead of drifting with the pot's sway.

Stambha — a pillar. The carved arm at its head is shaped to cradle the dhara pot at a fixed working height, while the barley-twist column beneath it is turned in one continuous, unbroken spiral — an echo, in wood, of the stream it's built to hold steady.

The Flagship

Vedadhara Maha Droni

Carved for healing, built for generations.

The Maha Droni is the table everything else in the collection is built around. A single boat-hulled surface in solid teak carries a patient through the full arc of Panchakarma — Abhyanga, Swedana, Pizhichil, Udvartana, Njavarakizhi, Kativasti — without ever needing to be moved to a second table.

Its hull is cut with a continuous drainage channel the full length of the body, so oil finds its own way to the collection point instead of pooling. Cushioned rests are set at the head and knee; the Sharira Peetha fits into its crown as a separate, replaceable cradle.

Turned and jointed first, then channelled, sanded through six grits and hand-polished, a Maha Droni takes an artisan the better part of three weeks before it leaves the workshop floor.
